Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman and Dicker LLP issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.
National law firm Wilson Elser has announced the opening of new offices in Birmingham, Alabama and Nashville, Tennessee – bringing the firm’s office count nationally to 37.
The Alabama office is located at 2700 Corporate Drive, Suite 200 in Birmingham, and the Tennessee office is located at Two American Center, 3102 West End Avenue, Suite 400, in Nashville.
The impetus for opening these “satellite” offices is to service the firm’s existing business, according to Atlanta Regional Managing Partner Jeffrey Melcher, who is overseeing the openings with Southwest Region Managing Partner Stratton Horres, and who represents a large number of firm clients in these two jurisdictions.
“When Jeff joined Wilson Elser to open the Atlanta office in March 2017, the strategic plan was to open offices in Alabama and Tennessee when the time was right,” explains Horres. “Jeff and many on the team that accompanied him were already admitted and actively practicing in these jurisdictions. The business has grown to a place that calls for this expansion.”
“Additionally, we see great potential here for all of our practices, including heath care, labor and employment, trucking and transportation, insurance coverage/bad faith, business disputes, professional malpractice, real estate, premises liability, entertainment and medical malpractice, to name a few,” adds Melcher. “These are burgeoning areas with diversified economies, low cost of living, leading colleges and hospitals, and low unemployment. People are moving there in droves.”
An article in the Tennessean cited the growth in Nashville at more than 100 people per day from July 2016 to July 2017.
Markets comprised in Wilson Elser’s southern region now include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee.
