Clark Hill PLC issued the following announcement on Oct. 31.

The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) has honored Clark Hill Strasburger and its Dallas member Daniel L. Butcher with a 2018 “Compass Award” in recognition of their support for and provision of career advancement opportunities for diverse attorneys. Butcher, formerly managing partner of Strasburger & Price, which combined with Clark Hill in April, is now a member of Clark Hill’s Executive Committee.

Clark Hill received the award at the Ninth Annual LCLD Membership Meeting last week in Washington, D.C.

The Compass Award recognizes LCLD members who demonstrate an exemplary commitment to the Council’s goal of creating a truly diverse U.S. legal profession. To qualify, organizations must actively participate the organization’s programs designed to attract, inspire, and nurture diverse talent in their firms, including attending the Annual Membership Meeting and participating in LCLD’s signature Fellows, Pathfinder and Pipeline Programs. This is the inaugural year for the Compass Award, which LCLD plans to present annually.

“We are delighted to be a first-ever Compass Award winner,” said Butcher. “Clark Hill Strasburger is recognized for its celebration of the unique differences and strengths that each attorney brings to our firm, our clients and our communities. We genuinely value and affirm diversity in all of its forms, and we congratulate our Diversity and Inclusion Committee for their efforts that led to this well-deserved recognition from LCLD.”

Clark Hill’s core diversity initiatives include THRIVE, which focuses on the recruitment, retention, advancement and client development for ethnically diverse attorneys; BOLD, which is dedicated to removing gender-based obstacles on the path to partnership/leadership; and PRIDE, which elevates and supports LGBTQ lawyers. The strategies and initiatives of these programs work together to increase the representation of women and minorities firmwide in Clark Hill’s leadership, management and among attorneys and staff.
