MLB.com made false representations regarding MLB Prime subscriptions, consumer claims

LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) – A California consumer alleges that MLB.com falsely advertises a full year of MLB.com for a price it "has no intention to provide."

Erin L. Perry, individually and on behalf of other members of the general public similarly situated, filed a complaint on Feb. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against MLB Advanced Media LP, doing business as MLB.com, and Does 1-10 for alleged violation of the California False Advertising Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff purchased a full year subscription to MLB Prime for the introductory rate of $79.99 in July 2016. She alleges the defendant automatically renewed the subscription in March 2017 and charged $112.99 four months before the year subscription was up.

The plaintiff holds MLB Advanced Media LP, doing business as MLB.com, responsible because it allegedly misled consumers by making misrepresentations and untrue statements about the product's full year services to solicit transactions and charged consumers for more than what they owed and billed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for punitive damages, all statutory enhanced damages, attorneys' fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief deemed just.
