WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) – Two Virginia companies are alleged to have failed to comply with a federal bureau's request for information.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau filed a memorandum on Oct. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against Nexus Services Inc. and Libre by Nexus Inc. in support of its petition to enforce civil investigative demand.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff issued a civil investigative demand (CID) to the defendants on Aug. 21 as part of an investigation regarding unfair, deceptive or abusive acts and practices under the Consumer Financial Protection Act. The suit states the defendants filed a petition to set aside or modify the CID, which was denied.

The plaintiff alleges that the defendants have not complied with plaintiff's issuance of the CID to produce general information relating to its business and organizational structure, legal actions filed against it, and information about employees who may have relevant knowledge to the investigation. 

The plaintiff seeks an order from the court to grant its petition and an order for the defendants to comply. It is represented by Benjamin Konop, Hai Binh T. Nguyen and Donald R. Gordon of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington, D.C.
