CenturyLink accused of overcharging Iowa customers

DES MOINES, Iowa (Legal Newsline) – Two Iowa residents allege that they were overcharged for services from an internet and telephone company.

Peter Denniston and Jon Lodestein filed a complaint on behalf of a class of similarly situated persons on Aug. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa against CenturyLink Inc. LLC, CenturyLink Public Communications Inc., CenturyLink Sales Solutions Inc. and Qwest Corp. citing the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that the defendants added unauthorized charges to customer's internet or telephone accounts in Iowa. The plaintiffs allege they were overcharged more than the price they were promised and for fees not disclosed by the defendants' representatives.

The plaintiffs holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly engaged in a pattern of deceptive and misleading practices and collected money using false pretenses.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek treble damages; enjoin the defendants; actual, consequential, statutory and incidental losses and damages; interest; all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Roxanne Conlin of Roxanne Conlin & Associates PC in Des Moines, Iowa.
