Stockholder alleges Mattel, officers violated federal securities laws

LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — A stockholder has filed a class action lawsuit against Mattel, Inc., and its officers, alleging violation of federal law.

Kari Lathe filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated. July 6 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Mattel Inc., former CEO Christopher A. Sinclair, company President Richard L. Dickson, chief financial officer Kevin M. Farr and senior vice president Joseph B. Johnson, alleging they issued false and misleading statements regarding the company's business and operation in violation of the 1934 Securities Exchange Act.

According to the complaint, Lathe was damaged financially as the result of the stock prices of the company declining. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to disclose to Lathe and other stockholders the real financial position of Mattel.

Lathe seeks trial by jury, pay damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and all other just and proper relief. Her legal representation includes attorneys Jennifer Pafiti of Pomerantz LLP in Beverly Hills, California, and Jeremy A. Lieberman, Hui M. Chang and J. Alexander Hood II of Pomerantz in New York.
