NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Legal Newsline) — A consumer is suing a Massachusetts corporation, alleging unfair competition and violation of state law.

Michael Corbo filed a complaint May 5 in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut against Alere, Inc. Alere Home Monitoring, Inc. Alere San Diego Inc, alleging they manufactured and sold defective products to consumers.

According to the complaint, Corbo suffered monetary damages of thousands of dollars due to the incorrect discrepancies on the results given by the INRatio testing kit that allegedly is supposed to measure the speed that blood clots in a patient's body. The plaintiff alleges the defendants manufactured defective INRatio test strips but failed to inform consumers that their products were defective.

Corbo seeks trial by jury, monetary damages, compensatory damages, attorney fees, punitive damages, and all equitable relief.  He is represented by attorney Jose M. Rojas of The Rojas Law Firm LLC in Hartford, Connecticut.
