MINNEAPOLIS (Legal Newsline) — A Minnesota man is suing an educational institution, alleging negligent misrepresentation.

Aaron Bleess filed a class action complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Dec. 29 in U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota against Walden University, LLC and Laureate International Universities, doing business as Laureate Education Inc., alleging false representations regarding the cost and the total time to complete its doctoral programs.

According to the complaint, Bleess suffered financial damages due to the false promise of finishing Walden University's doctorate degree in a shorter amount of time. The plaintiff alleges the defendants made false promises to Bleess and similar individuals that their doctorate programs would take less time to complete. The suit says due to this misrepresentation, students are saddled with crippling debt.

Bleess seeks trial by jury, damages, interest, treble damages, disgorgement, enjoin the defendant, court costs, restitution and all further relief the court grants. He is represented by attorneys Robert K. Shelquist, Eric N. Linsk and Rebecca A. Peterson of Lockridge Grindal Nauen PLLP in Minneapolis, and by Bill Sieben and Alicia Sieben of Schwebel Goetz and Sieben in Minneapolis.
