LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) – A Los Angeles County woman has filed a class-action suit against a debt collector over allegations of harassing behavior.

Carneisha Forney filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Credence Resource Management LLC alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 2015, she began receiving numerous calls from the defendant attempting to collect an alleged outstanding debt. As a result, she alleges she was caused to suffer injuries to her feelings, including humiliation, embarrassment, mental anguish and emotional distress. The plaintiff holds Credence Resource Management LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly engaged in a conduct to harass, oppress and abuse her and placed calls using an automated telephone dialing system even after she orally revoked any and all consent to contact her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for actual and statutory damages, attorney's fees and other relief as may be just and proper. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of the Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Los Angeles.
