Cdpublication

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Legal Newsline) – Juris Publishing Inc. and Jurisnet LLC (Juris) agreed to settle after allegations of negative option marketing in their advertising, selling and distributing of print, electronic and CD publications, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced.

The company markets and sells mostly to law libraries and law firms. It allegedly would place consumers into automatic shipment and automatic shipment renewal plans without consumer consent. Additionally, it purportedly failed to clearly disclose the terms of these plans.

As part of an assurance of voluntary compliance, Juris has agreed that it will clearly display any negative option plans for online, phone and print sales; follow provided disclosure requirements for trials and automatic renewals and automatic shipment plans; and obtain consumer consent to negative option plan terms before conducting business.

Juris will also need to refund every consumer in Florida that it provided a negative option plan to without consent.
