MIAMI (Legal Newsline) —  A Broward Coutny man is suing a pet supplies retailer, alleging it prints more than the federally mandated maximum last five digits of a card number on transaction receipts.

Eric Kirchein, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a class action lawsuit Jan. 14 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Pet Supermarket, alleging violations of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act amendment to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

According to the suit, Pet Supermarket prints more than the last five digits of a card number on transaction receipts, in violation of the FCRA.

As a result, the lawsuit states, the defendant's customers have an elevated risk of identity theft.

Kirchein and others in the class seek statutory and punitive damages, injunctive relief, attorney fees, and other costs of the suit. They are represented by attorney Bret L. Lusskin of Aventura, Florida.
