BOSTON (Legal Newsline) - A Massachusetts woman is suing a pet food manufacturer for allegedly mislabeling its products.
Sarah Jacobs filed a class action lawsuit Sept. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts against Blue Buffalo Pet Products Inc., a Delaware company with headquarters in Connecticut.
The action claims that during the four-year period preceding the lawsuit, the defendants allegedly labeled their pet food as being free of poultry or poultry byproduct meals, soy or corn proteins, or artificial preservatives. The suit alleges the pet food did contain these ingredients, in violation of the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act.
Jacobs is seeking actual and statutory damages, treble damages, injunctive relief, pre- and post-judgment interest and attorneys’ fees.
The plaintiffs are being represented by Edward Haber and Patrick Vallely of Shapiro Haber & Urmy in Boston and Robert Schubert and Miranda Kobe of Schubert Jonckheer Kobe in San Francisco.
United States District Court of Massachusetts case number 1:15-cv-13417-RGS.
