Lawsuit accuses Starbucks of deceptive business practices

NEW YORK CITY (Legal Newsline) - A New York man is among a group of plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit that seeks redress from Starbucks for allegedly violating the federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act.

A lawsuit filed March 27 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York by Kyeong Jae Lee, Lingxi Kong, Neil Stevens, Shuting Huang and at least 100 John Does against Starbucks Corp. and Starbucks Coffee Co. alleges deceptive business practices.

According to the lawsuit, "defendant manufactures, markets and sells" Frappuccino and other iced coffee drinks "with non-functional slack-fill in violation of" the federal act and other state laws that prohibit "misbranded food." 

The plaintiffs seek undisclosed damages.

The plantiffs are represented by C.K. Lee of Lee Litigation Group, PLLC of New York City.
