JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Care 4 Life Medical Resources LLC recently agreed to pay $42,818 as part of a settlement for allegedly submitting fraudulent claims to Missouri's Medicaid program (MO HealthNet) for home health services.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster announced the settlement with Care 4 Life and its owner, Antanaia Miller for alleged fraudulent practices in Medicaid billing. Care 4 Life provides in-home services to many participants of MO HealthNet.

Missouri's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit led an investigation into the company's practices. The investigation found that Miller and Care 4 Life allegedly did not ensure that their employees were actually providing the services that were being billed to Medicaid. Some of the services were allegedly billed when the patients were hospitalized and unavailable for home health services.

Care 4 Life received $10,106 in reimbursement funds from Medicaid after allegedly filing false claims.

The settlement requires that Miller and Care 4 Life pay $10,106.04 to the MO HealthNet Fraud Reimbursement Fund, $30,212.06 for penalties and fines and $2,500 to the MO HealthNet Fraud Prosecution Revolving Fund for investigation costs.

"My office will continue to aggressively investigate evidence of Medicaid fraud and stop those who illegally take scarce health-care dollars out of the system," Koster said.
