ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Legal Newsline) - A Maryland lawmaker says he is considering a run for the state Attorney General's Office in 2014.
The Associated Press reported Thursday that Sen. Brian Frosh, D-Montgomery County, is working on forming an "exploratory committee."
"Yes, I'm exploring a race for attorney general," he said.
Frosh told the AP he came to the decision after talking to fellow Democrat and Montgomery County state Sen. Jamie Raskin.
Raskin, also a constitutional law professor at American University's Washington College of Law, called Frosh a "natural pick" and said he would be an "ardent" supporter if Frosh decided to run.
According to his bio, Frosh has been a member of the state Senate since January 1995. He has served as chair of the Judicial Proceedings Committee since 2003.
Current Attorney General Doug Gansler is considered a strong candidate for governor in 2014.
A second-term Democrat, Gansler ran unopposed in the 2010 election.
He has yet to decide on a run for governor and has said he is still considering a third term as attorney general.
