TRENTON, N.J. (Legal Newsline) - New Jersey Attorney General Paula Dow is reportedly expected to step down as the state's top lawyer by the end of the year.
Sources told the Star-Ledger that Dow is interested in becoming a judge.
Most likely, she would be seeking a seat on the Essex County Superior Court, which has 11 vacancies, the newspaper said.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie nominated Dow, a Democrat, to the position in December 2009. She was the first black woman appointed attorney general in New Jersey.
As for her replacement, sources told the New Jersey paper that Jeff Chiesa, Christie's chief counsel, could be in line for the job.
