Lawmaker announces run for Mont. AG

Laslovich

HELENA, Mont. (Legal Newsline) - Jessie Laslovich, the chief legal counsel for the Montana auditor's office, has filed his paperwork to run in the 2012 race for Montana attorney general.

Laslovich, 30, a Democratic party member of the Montana Senate representing District 43 since 2004, also served as a member of the Montana House of Representatives from 2000 to 2004. He was the second-youngest Montanan elected to the state legislature in the state's history, KFBB.com reports.

"People think that my youth will be a liability, I think that it will be an asset I've said to folks age is just a number, if someone's older it doesn't mean they have better judgment, doesn't mean that they'll have more energy or a better work ethic and I think I'll be able to show Montanans that I've got the better judgment the best work ethic and great energy to do a really great job for them," Laslovich said, according to KFBB.com.

Born and raised in Anaconda, Mont., Laslovich is also a part owner in Laslovich Construction and serves as a special assistant for the U.S. Attorney, KRTV reports.

Incumbent Attorney General Steve Bullock may run for governor, but has not yet announced his plans to run. The other announced candidate for the position is Republican Senator Jim Shockley, though several other potential candidates have expressed interest in the race pending Bullock's decision.
