AG Biden recovering from stroke

PHILADELPHIA (Legal Newsline) - Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden continued to progress Wednesday after suffering a mild stroke Tuesday.

Biden, 41, is the son of Vice President Joe Biden, the former senator from Delaware. Tuesday night, he was transferred to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia from Christiana Medical Center in Newark, Del.

"Attorney General Biden continues his favorable progress after sustaining a mild stroke yesterday," a statement made by the Delaware Department of Justice says.

"He will continue to follow standard protocol and receive medical therapy over the coming days, as is typical for any patient recovering from an event like this.

"He looks forward to returning to his duties as attorney general in the near future."

A statement made Tuesday by Dr. Timothy Gardner of Christiana said Biden was in stable condition with full motor and speech skills.

Biden, 41, has been the state's attorney general since 2007. This year, he turned down the opportunity to run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by his father.

Biden, a member of the Delaware National Guard who recently served a one-year tour of duty in Iraq, said one of the main reasons he ran for attorney general was to help children from predators, and it's a reason he's staying attorney general.
