DAGA pours $200k into Koster's coffers

Chris Koster (D)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline)-Chris Koster, the Democratic candidate for Missouri attorney general, has been given $200,000 by the Democratic Attorneys General Association.

Although Koster has raked in campaign cash since announcing his bid to succeed Attorney General Jay Nixon, who is the Democratic nominee for governor, he spent most of it in his primary fight against state Reps. Margaret Donnelly and Jeff Harris.

Donnelly lost the Democratic nomination by 829 votes.

Koster received the donation Friday, the day before he attended the Democratic Attorneys General Association meeting in Savannah, Ga., which was a fundraising event attended by lobbyists and corporate representatives, among others.

With DAGA's contribution, Koster has at least $673,000 for his race against Republican nominee Michael Gibbons, the state Senate pro tempore, according to the most recent campaign finance disclosures.

Gibbons, meanwhile has raised at least $634,000. He did not face a challenger for the Republican nomination.

The candidates will submit updated campaign finance reports Oct. 15.
