Soon-to-be AG picks top deputy

Conway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Kentucky's new Attorney General says he has a new right-hand woman.

Democrat Jack Conway, elected in a landslide earlier this month over Republican opponent Stan Lee, recently told The Associated Press he will hire University of Louisville administrator Dana Bynum Mayton to serve as his deputy attorney general.

Mayton is the associate vice president for governmental relations and special assistant tot University of Louisville President Dr. James Ramsey.

Formerly, she was an attorney and secretary of the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. Conway told the AP that she "has earned a reputation for working well with members of both political parties."

Next year, Conway will take over for Greg Stumbo, who resigned his post to make a failed run at Lieutenant Governor. He's currently mulling a run for the U.S. Senate.

This year, Stumbo has filed two large lawsuits -- one against Marathon Oil for gasoline price-gouging and another against Purdue Pharma, manufacturer of the prescription painkiller OxyContin.
