Outgoing Virginia Congressman to be honored at event

WATERFORD, Va. (Legal Newsline) - Virginia's longest-serving Congressman, Republican U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, will be honored in a couple of weeks for his contributions to the state.

According to a Wednesday press release, Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership's Annual Auction & Gala will be held June 21st at Merry Oak Farm.

Journey Through Hallowed Ground is a "deep love" of the region from Gettysburg to Monticello and its remarkable history and beauty, the press release states.

Wolf will be honored at the event for his array of contributions to Virginia. It was Wolf who introduced legislation designating this region as the 38th National Heritage Area in the country.

After 17 terms in Congress, Wolf announced in December that he would not seek re-election in 2014 and would instead spend his time focusing on humanitarian issues.

In the race for Virginia's 10th Congressional District, state Del. Barbara Comstock won the Republican nomination in the primary on April 26. She will face Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust, a Democrat, and Libertarian Bill Redpath.
