Conn. AG advises Ace Oil Co. customers to seek alternative supplier

Jepsen

HARTFORD, Conn. (Legal Newsline) -- Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William Rubenstein said Thursday customers of a Meriden-based heating oil company should seek an alternate supplier.

According to the Attorney General's Office, Ace Oil Co. has closed its doors.

Jepsen and Rubenstein said customers of the company should seek out an alternate home heating oil supplier for future deliveries.

"My office is working closely with DCP, and we have been in contact with representatives of the company," the attorney general said. "While we are reviewing the situation, Ace Oil customers should take steps to find an alternate supplier to fulfill their heating oil needs and can contact DCP to file a complaint."

Rubenstein also advised customers to retain copies of all records while he and Jepsen review the matter.

Ace customers who already have service, budget or prepaid contracts and have yet to receive the oil or service may file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection. The DCP posted a complaint form on its website that consumers may use for such complaints.

Consumers who paid for any service or product from Ace by credit card and did not receive the service or product are advised to contact their credit card company as soon as possible to dispute payment of the owed balance.
