Ohio AG announces lawsuit against storm damage repair company

IRONTON, Ohio (Legal Newsline) - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced a lawsuit Monday against a Grayson, Ky.-based storm damage repair business and its owners for allegedly failing to deliver services and performing shoddy work.

Between December and April, All Seasons of Kentucky Inc. and husband and wife owners Leo Richard and Carol Richard allegedly took money from approximately 35 Ohio consumers to do storm damage repair work. Dozens of consumers alleged that All Seasons did no work at all, or that the work completed was shoddy.

The defendants allegedly took more than $171,000 from Ohio consumers. The Richardses allegedly made personal car and yacht club payments from the All Seasons bank account.

"This business targeted homeowners who had storm damage and ripped them off," DeWine said. "When a business takes a consumer's money and does little or nothing in return, we will go after the business and the individuals responsible."

DeWine's lawsuit alleges that the business and its owners engaged in multiple violations of Ohio's Consumer Sales Practices Act and Home Solicitation Sales Act, including shoddy work, failure to give consumers proper notice of their right to cancel and failure to deliver.

The lawsuit seeks to stop additional violations and to obtain civil penalties and full consumer restitution.
