Missouri AG files lawsuit against St. Louis business for alleged no-call violations

Koster

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a lawsuit Monday against a St. Louis business and its owner for allegedly engaging in multiple violations of the state's no-call law.

Pure Air Inc., doing business as Air Duct Cleaning, and Noach Palatnik, the company's owner, allegedly used automated robo-calls to make thousands of calls to St. Louis area residents. Some consumers asked the company to stop calling them, but they allegedly received dozens of additional robo-calls. In at least one alleged instance, a representative from Pure Air told a consumer that the company was not subject to Missouri's no-call law.

Koster's office received more than 1,000 complaints related to allegedly unwanted calls from Pure Air since March.

"Missourians place their phone numbers on our no-call list for a very simple reason - they do not want to receive annoying, unwanted calls," Koster said. "We will continue to take action against companies that ignore Missouri law."

Koster's lawsuit requests that the court stop Pure Air and Palatnik from making any calls to Missouri residents on the no-call lists and impose penalties of $5,000 for each violation that occurred. The lawsuit also seeks that Pure Air pay for attorney and court costs.
