Koster sues Tennessee-based telemarketers

By Bryan Cohen | Mar 18, 2013

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a lawsuit Friday against a Tennessee-based telemarketing company and its CEO for allegedly engaging in multiple violations of Missouri's no-call law.

Koster's office received at least 500 complaints against Simplex Health Care Inc., doing business as Simplex Diabetic Supplies, and Larson Hudson, the company's chairman and CEO.

Koster's lawsuit against Simplex and Hudson requests that the court temporarily stop the telemarketers from making any additional calls to Missourians while the suit is pending and permanently when the lawsuit is resolved.

Koster is also seeking penalties, court costs and attorney costs.

"Missourians place their phone numbers on our no-call list for a very simple reason - they do not want to receive annoying, unwanted calls," Koster said. "We will continue to take action against companies that ignore Missouri law."

Missourians are able to sign up for the Do-Not-Call hotline on Koster's website or by calling his office.
