Mo. AG announces penalties against Nevada telemarketers

Koster

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster announced $41,500 in penalties against two Nevada companies Monday for alleged violations of the state's no-call law.

Under the terms of the agreements with Worldwide Commerce Associates and Firebrand Group SL, the companies will pay $41,500 in penalties and stop making telemarketing calls to consumers in the state of Missouri who placed their phone numbers on Missouri's Do-Not-Call list without the express consent of the consumers.

"The attorney general's office will continue to pursue companies that violate our telemarketing and phone solicitation laws," Koster said. "Missourians subscribe to our no-call list to avoid being harassed by telemarketers, and this office will aggressively enforce the law to protect consumers from unwanted calls."

Koster's office received more than 175 complaints about Worldwide Commerce Associates and Firebrand Group SL. The companies made calls to the consumers attempting to sell services such as tax services and cruise packages.
