Seven companies face lawsuits for allegedly violating an Iowa law that requires companies to notify a call center when excavating near a gas pipe, Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller said Monday.

The seven companies allegedly violated the Iowa One Call law. The law requires companies to call the Iowa One Call center, which then would notify the underground facility operators when a company was operating near a gas pipe or caused damage to a gas pipe.

The seven companies are:

- Knutson Construction Services Midwest, Inc., in Linn County, allegedly violated the law during an excavation that resulted in a gas line being damaged with a one-inch hole.

- Leroy & Sons, Inc., allegedly violated the the law in Palo Alto County when it was excavating a waterway and removed soil cover over a four-inch gas line pipe.

- Norm Rozendaal Tiling, Inc., allegedly violated the law in Jasper County when a gas line ruptured, requiring  an emergency response.

- Olmstead Constructioin, Inc., allegedly ruptured a gas line in Linn County during an excavation, which required and emergency response and repair.

- Perez Construction allegedly ruptured a gas line in Woodbury County in 2012 and fixed the gas line with duct tape and concrete. Two years later an odor of gas was reported and the incident was discovered.

- Roy Plagge allegedly damaged a gas line in two areas during an excavation, which resulted in an emergency fix.

- Wes Casson & Son, LLC, nearly hit a gas line in Pottawattamie County during an excavation.
