BOISE, Idaho (Legal Newsline) - Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden reached agreements with three business owners on Tuesday who allegedly misrepresented themselves to consumers and failed to deliver promised services.

Geo Marketing LLC and Derek Harris, the company's owner; Idaho Promotions Group LLC and Kasey Thompson, the company's owner; and Canyon College of Idaho Inc. and Philip Braun, the for-profit school's owner, agreed to cease operations in the state.

"The activities of these three Treasure Valley business owners represent the variety of consumer protection issues my office handles every single day," Wasden said.

Harris and Geo Marketing allegedly misrepresented the amount of savings promised to customers who bought internet, security and satellite television systems. Under the terms of the agreement, Harris may no longer open another Idaho business similar to Geo Marketing. A $10,000 civil penalty against Harris was suspended dependent on his compliance with the agreement.

Thompson and Idaho Promotions Group LLC allegedly misrepresented the terms of promotional events to vendors, including dates, venues and facilities. Thompson agreed to stop advertising or selling promotional services or goods in the state. Thompson paid $300 in penalties and a $10,000 civil penalty remains suspended as long as he complies with the agreement.

Braun and Canyon College of Idaho allegedly awarded degrees to students and taught courses for college credit even though the school was only authorized to teach at the certificate course completion level. Braun agreed to no longer own, operate or manage a similar entity going forward. Braun will pay $41,000 in civil penalties if he violates the terms of the settlement.
