Consumer accuses Verizon of fraud

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Legal Newsline) — A Brooklyn consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against Verizon, alleging fraud and unfair competition.

Lowell J. Sidney filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, April 3 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Verizon Communications and Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless Services LLC, alleging the defendants allowed a stranger to order a cell phone and service from Verizon without notifying Sidney.

According to the complaint, Sidney suffered monetary damages from being billed for a mobile phone and service that he did not purchase. The plaintiff alleges Verizon failed to remove the services and charges that were added to the plaintiff's account requested by the imposter.

Sidney seeks damages for fraud, damages for breach of contract, damages for unjust enrichment and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Athas C. Ioannou of The Law Office of Athas C. Ioannou in Long Island City, New York.
