Pharmaceutical firm faces class action alleging securities fraud

WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) — A retirement system has filed a class-action lawsuit against Mallinckrodt PLC and corporate officers Mark Trudeau and Matthew K. Harbaugh, citing alleged violation of federal securities laws.

Fulton County Employees' Retirement System of Atlanta filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on March 23 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against the defendants, alleging that they made false statements regarding the pharmaceutical products company.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Fulton County Employees' Retirement System sustained damages from purchasing common stock at inflated prices. The plaintiff holds Mallinckrodt PLC, Trudeau and Harbaugh responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to disclose material facts about the Ireland-based company in order to inflate common stock prices.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages plus interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Steven J. Toll, Daniel S. Sommers and Elizabeth A. Aniskevich of Cohen, Milstein, Sellers & Toll PLLC in Washington.
