BOSTON (Legal Newsline) — A Massachusetts consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against a hair products business, alleging negligent misrepresentation.

Molly Crane of Quincy filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all other persons similarly situated, Feb. 23, in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts against Sexy Hair Concepts, LLC, and Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc., alleging they made false claims regarding the contents of their shampoo.

According to the complaint, Crane suffered monetary damages from being misled into purchasing a falsely advertised product. The plaintiff alleges the defendants advertised their shampoo to be sulfate-free and salt-free despite the ingredients of sulfate and salt being listed on the back of the container.

Crane seeks trial by jury, monetary damages, three times damages, statutory damages, interest, enjoin the defendant, all legal fees and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Thomas G. Shapiro and Ian J. McLoughlin of Shapiro Haber & Urmy LLP in Boston, and by Kenneth Quat of Quat Law Offices in Framingham.
