Users accuse Yahoo! Inc. of lax security measures

SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) — Users have filed a class action lawsuit against Yahoo! Inc., citing alleged breach of implied warranty, breach of warranty, negligence and unfair competition.

Matthew Ridolfo and Deana Ridolfo filed a complaint Feb. 7 on behalf of similarly situated individuals in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Yahoo! Inc., alleging that the corporation failed to keep their users personal information safe from any security breaches.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Matthew Ridolfo and Deana Ridolfo suffered damages from having their personal information stolen from their email account. The plaintiffs holds Yahoo! Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep adequate security measures to ensure that their user's personal information is kept safe from date security breaches.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek enjoin the defendant, award compensatory, exemplary, and statutory damages, interest, disgorgement, restitution, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Lee A. Cirsch, Robert K. Friedl and Trisha K. Monesi of Capstone Law APC in Los Angeles.
