CHICAGO (Legal Newsline) — An Illinois woman is suing Family Dollar, alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.
Jennifer M. Parrot of Markham filed a class action complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Jan. 11 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Family Dollar, Inc. and Dollar Tree, Inc., alleging false claims regarding the aloe content of a gel product.
According to the complaint, Parrott she suffered monetary damages from being misled into purchasing Aloe Vera moisturizing gel, a product she believed contained 100 percent Aloe Vera. The plaintiff alleges the defendants labeled their product stating it contains 100 percent Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice but it does not contain any actual Aloe Vera according to an independent laboratory test.
Parrott seeks trial by jury, actual damages, statutory damages, restitution, enjoin the defendant, all legal fees plus interest, and all other equitable relief.
