SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline) - Two California consumers are suing General Mills, alleging negligent misrepresentation and unfair competition.

Beverly Truxel and Stephen Hadley filed a class action lawsuit, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated and the general public, Aug. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against General Mills Sales Inc., alleging the defendant makes false claims that its products promote health and wellness.

According to the complaint, Truxel and Hadley suffered financial damages from being misled into buying General Mills cereal products that were alleged to promote health. The plaintiffs allege General Mills advertises its cereal products to be healthy but they have high sugar content.
