BOSTON (Legal Newsline) – Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced the issuance of 29 civil citations against construction companies from January to March.

According to her office, restitution for employees of the various employers totaled close to $260,000. Companies were fined more than $68,000 in total.

“Wage theft is a real issue in Massachusetts, including in the construction industry where dishonest companies continue to cheat their employees,” Healey said. “Our office is working to level the playing field so that workers are paid fairly and contractors who follow the rules are not at a disadvantage.”

These cases included many types of violations, such as failing to pay proper wages and failing to pay overtime.

Citations were issued against AK Electric Inc., Boston Electric & Telephone Corp., C&M Construction, Felix Painting and Glenshane III LLC.
