NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - A New York woman is suing an online retailer and its successor in interest, alleging they engage in unlawful price scheming.

Stephanie Preira, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a class action lawsuit Feb. 22 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against Zulily LLC and Liberty Interactive Corporation, alleging violations of the New York General Business Law.

The suit states the defendants deceive consumers who purchase items from their "Reborn" collection of branded merchandise. The defendants allegedly fabricated former or suggested retail prices and offer their merchandise at a significantly lower price, creating the impression of a steep discount.

Preira and others in the class seek statutory and punitive damages, interests, attorney fees and other costs of the suit. They are represented by attorneys Jeffrey I. Carton and Joanna Sandolo of Denlea & Carton in White Plains, New York.
