TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi obtained a permanent injunction on Thursday that she says effectively shuts down several Orlando businesses for allegedly “robocalling" consumers.

The businesses allegedly used recorded telephone calls, also called “robocalls,” to attempt to sell medical alert devices to senior citizens. The callers would allegedly claim that a family member had already purchased the devices for them. They also allegedly told the customers the devices were endorsed by health organizations.

“We must do everything within our power to protect Florida’s consumers," Bondi said. "The scheme we have stopped allegedly targeted Florida’s senior citizens, and we, along with our Federal Trade Commission partners, have held these individuals accountable."

All the companies involved - Worldwide Info Services Inc., Elite Information Solutions Inc., Absolute Solutions Group Inc. and Global Interactive Technologies Inc. - have a lifetime ban from robocalling and the marketing or sale of any medical alert service or product.
