JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - The Missouri Appellate Judicial Commission has selected three applicants to fill a spot on the state Supreme Court.
Richard Teitelman, the court's chief justice and chair of the AJC, submitted the panel to Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday. Nixon will choose one of them to replace the retired Justice Michael Wolff, who added that the commission unanimously supports the three nominees.
Judge Michael Manners, a circuit court judge in Jackson County received seven votes from the AJC. He is 60 years old.
Judge George Draper, a judge on the state Court of Appeals, Eastern District, received five votes. He is 57 years old.
Joe Jacobson, 50, is a shareholder in the St. Louis law firm Green Jacobson.
Nixon has 60 days to select one of the nominees to fill the vacancy. If he does not, the AJC will make the appointment.
Other members of the AJC are attorneys J.R. Hobbs of Kansas City, Nancy Mogab of St. Louis and John D. Wooddell of Springfield and lay members John Gentry of Springfield, Donald L. Ross of St. Louis and Jill Shurin of Kansas City.
