Cuomo suing Tagged.com

NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday that he has filed legal action against a social networking site for allegedly ignoring a proliferation of child pornography.

Cuomo served Tagged.com with notice of his intent to sue the company for allegedly failing to keep graphic images of child pornography away from children.

While the company's Web site and its officials publicly commend themselves for keeping children safe on the internet and claim to be responsive to all complaints, Cuomo says that is untrue.

He says significant lapses in the company's response to user complaints over sexual content, inappropriate communication between adults and children, and graphic images of children being sexually abused were revealed by the investigation.

"Despite the safety claims listed on its very own website, Tagged.com repeatedly looks the other way when sexually explicit material is sent to its underage users," Cuomo said.

"Child safety online is something than can never be ignored. This type of activity on the Internet poses a threat to children everywhere and parents must be aware of the dangerous security lapses at Tagged.com."
