AUSTIN, Texas (Legal Newsline) - State Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer is the newest partner at the multipurpose firm Husch Blackwell.

According to a Tuesday press release, Martinez Fischer, a litigator practicing since 1998 in state and federal courts throughout Texas, is the second member of the Texas Legislature within the firm, joining Austin partner and Texas Sen. Kirk Watson.

Dubbed a "heavy hitter" by the New York Times, Martinez Fischer has been described as a passionate public servant who crusades vigorously for matters of importance to his constituents, the press release states.

"As an attorney, Trey (Martinez Fischer) applies that same passion and tenacity to matters on behalf of his clients," said Adam Hauser, a managing partner at the Austin Office.

"Texas is fortunate to have (him) as a state representative, and now we have the privilege of counting him as a fellow partner at Husch Blackwell."

Martinez Fischer will join the firm's Energy & Natural Resources team and will be active in building the firm's presence throughout Texas in the areas of energy, real estate, healthcare, manufacturing and technology, financial services and agribusiness.

"Our recent merger with Brown McCarroll has paved the way for greater opportunity in the rapidly expanding Texas economy," said Steve Carman, Husch Blackwell's Energy & Natural Resources group leader. "(Martinez Fischer's) strong ties to the region will help us take advantage of the opportunities that the merger has provided."

Martinez Fischer joined the Texas House of Representatives in 2000 and is currently serving in his seventh term.

Texas Monthly magazine named him one of the "10 Best" legislators of 2013, the press release states.

Husch Blackwell is an industry-focused, full-service litigation and business law firm with locations in 15 U.S. cities and in London.
