East St. Louis Mayor launches super PAC to support GOP candidate for Ill. governor

Rauner

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill., (Legal Newsline) - East St. Louis Mayor Carl Officer has announced his endorsement of businessman Bruce Rauner, a Republican, for governor and the formation of a super PAC to support him.

The endorsement was announced Wednesday in a press release. The super PAC to support Rauner has been dubbed Democrats & Independents For Rauner.

"I am sure we will hear the moans and groans from our Democrat friends regarding our decision in this endorsement and support of a Republican," Officer said.

"However, we ask them to consider whether we do not need a totally different approach for all Illinoisans to have a chance to carve out their share of that American Dream? Bruce Rauner, a businessman governor, embodies that difference."

Rauner, will square off against incumbent Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn in the November general election. Rauner's running mate Evelyn Sanguinetti.

The DIFR Advisory Board will be chaired by attorney Brunell Donald-Kyei, who is appreciative for the appointment, according to the press release.

"I want to thank Mayor Officer, not just for this appointment, but also for having the political courage once again to form this organization, ignoring political party lines and truly prioritizing the People of Illinois instead," Donald-Kyei said.
