JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a lawsuit Friday against a Pennsylvania-based telemarketer and its manager for allegedly engaging in multiple violations of the state's no call law.

Leading Apex LLC and Brian Ofner, the company's manager, contract with businesses to provide telemarketing sales services by providing the phone numbers and placing the sales calls.

Leading Apex allegedly marketed home security systems through telephone calls to Missouri residents on the No Call list.

"Missourians add their numbers to the No Call list to avoid unwanted sales calls from telemarketers," Koster said.

"My office will continue to aggressively pursue companies that violate this protection for Missouri consumers."

Koster's office received more than 480 complaints against Leading Apex since May 2012.

The attorney general's lawsuit requests the court to stop the company from making future calls to Missourians on the No Call list. The suit also seeks financial penalties and attorney and court costs from the company.

Missourians can register their land and cell phone numbers through the state's No Call program.

Residents already registered on the No Call list can file a complaint with Koster's office if they receive unsolicited telemarketing calls.
