JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster announced settlements on Monday with multiple security system telemarketers to resolve alleged violations of Missouri's no call and telemarketing laws.

JVersacio Corporation, doing business as Central Security, allegedly made thousands of automated robocalls to consumer telephone numbers listed on Missouri's No Call Registry in an attempt to sell home security systems. Many Missourians allegedly received additional calls after following instructions for removing themselves from future calls.

ISI Alarms NC allegedly made hundreds of unwanted telemarketing calls to sell home security products and told consumers that the FBI had reported burglaries and break-ins in the consumers' neighborhoods.

"Home security businesses that solicit customers by misrepresenting local crime statistics are among the highest sources of consumer complaints to my office's No Call Hotline," Koster said. "These two companies repeatedly harassed consumers with a misleading sales pitch. We will continue to take swift action to protect Missouri consumers from these unwanted calls."

Under the terms of the agreement, the companies are prohibited from making further telemarketing calls to Missourians without prior written consent.

JVersacio Corporation and Joseph Versacio, the company's owner, will pay $7,500 in civil penalties to the state. ISI Alarms NC will pay $10,000 in civil penalties. The companies will pay penalties of up to $100,000 each if they violate the terms of their agreements.
