PHOENIX, Ariz. (Legal Newsline)-Republican Tom Horne leads in fundraising among candidates for Arizona attorney general, campaign finance reports show.
Horne, the state superintendent of public instruction, raised $210,163 as of Jan. 31, according to the latest filings with the Arizona secretary of state's office.
Horne, a Harvard-educated lawyer, was elected Arizona State Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2002 and was reelected to a second four-year term in 2006.
On the Democratic side, Felecia Rotellini, former superintendent of the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions, leads in fundraising.
She reported that she raised $140,000 through the end of January.
Trailing in fundraising was Democratic state Rep. David Lujan, who raised $50,533 and Republican Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas who reported raising $25,070.
The candidates are running to succeed Attorney General Terry Goddard, a Democrat who is running for governor this year. He formally announced his candidacy Jan. 24. He is so far running unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
