Jepsen enters Conn. AG race
Jepsen
HARTFORD, Conn. (Legal Newsline) - One Democrat has already announced his intention to replace longtime Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.

Former state Democratic Party chairman George Jepsen said Wednesday that he will run for attorney general this year while Blumenthal is seeking a U.S. Senate seat. Blumenthal has been the state's attorney general since 1991.

Jepsen called Blumenthal "the gold standard for attorneys general," according to a report in the New Haven Independent.

He led the state Democratic Party from 2003-04 after an unsuccessful run at lieutenant governor in 2002.

Currently, Jepsen works at Cowdery, Ecker & Murphy in Hartford. He served in the state Legislature for 16 years and was Senate Majority Leader from 1997-2003.

Jepsen, 55, received his law degree from Harvard University.
