Nevada Supreme Court justice crashes into UPS store
Kris Pickering
LAS VEGAS (Legal Newsline) - A Nevada Supreme Court justice escaped injury Monday when her car smashed into a UPS store in Las Vegas, a court spokesman said.

Supreme Court Justice Kris Pickering was parking in front of the store when her Mercedes sedan "inexplicably" lurched forward, spokesman Bill Gang told Legal Newsline.

"She is fine," as are the justice's two border collies that were also in the car, Gang said, noting that the incident has attracted considerable media attention.

Pickering told authorities she stopped the car by turning off the ignition, Gang said. Pickering was not cited for the incident that happened at about 9 a.m. The air bags inside the Mercedes did not deploy.

"I am so thankful that no one was physically hurt," said Pickering, who went to work shortly after the incident.

Pickering, a Republican, was elected Nov. 4 to fill the seat vacated by Justice William Maupin, who announced last January that he would not seek election to a third six-year term.
